Feb. 6th: I read this awesome article about the Specialized Stumppumper, by Mike Levy.
https://www.pinkbike.com/news/specialized-stumppumper-concept-bike-2012.htmlIt got me thinking: "can I build a bike similar to theirs but without a F1 budget?" So I contacted a friend of mine, who's the Ceo of the company Velo B2B (www.velob2b.com) in Denmark, which is the distributor of Dartmoor.
Why Dartmoor? Well first of all because of the price, and secondly, because I ride the Dartmoor Shine and I'm very happy with the way it rides, and I'm also pleased with the awesome service I get from thes guys!
So I went out and got a Quinnie frame and the Bronx fork. I know what you might be thinking right now: "it's steel and you want to make a lite pumptrack bike?" Well YES?!
What the article showed me, was that the Specialized weighed in at 8.1kilos, had hightech parts and a couple of carbon parts. What I had, was a low budget and parts lying around from "old" projects and former bikes.
In addition, I also got myself some cool new Dartmoor parts for this project, because I didn't have all parts for the bike lying around ;o)
So I started building the bike and the goal was to get within 500grams of the Specialized, without getting financially ruined in the process.
Here is what came out of this insane idea:
